Black Bean Sundal


  1. Black Beans-1cup
  2. Onion-1/2 medium chopped
  3. Garlic-2nos mashed 
  4. Red chilly Powder-as needed
  5. Channa dal-1teaspoon
  6. Coriander Powder-1tablespoon
  7. Salt/turmeric
  8. Curry leaves/Cilantro-Few chopped
  9. shredded coconut-2teablespoon
  10. Oil-2teaspoon
  11. Hing-pinch
Soak the beans for over night.Drain all soaked water and pressure cook with new water.add salt.turmeric powder and pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles.


  • Heat oil in pan., splutter mustard.
  • Roast channa dal,curry leaves add Hing
  • Add Onion,Garlic fry well 
  • Put red chilly powder,coriander powder and give a mix
  • Add cooked Beans,salt &and coconut.
  • Granish with cilantro.Ready to serve.
Nutrition Value: It's a good source of Protein.Low in cholesterol.

Avoid green chillies, for any type of sundal.It'll be tough to find while eating.really u want to add mns slit the chillies dont chop.
